ASEAN FREE TRADE AGREEMENTS: Its Benefit for Indonesia.

Since 2002, ASEAN has at least 6 Free Trade Agreements with neighboring countries namely China, South Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and India. Some more are still in on going process such as with Russia and USA.
Regardless the benefits, these fruitful agreements still encountering some resistances at home, I didn't say that I couldn't agree to some of the cons, but there quite a pro condition that driven me to support the FTAs rather than to resist it.
In order to provide a clearer picture of the benefits of the ASEAN FTAs for Indonesia; before I conclude my tenure as the Head of Bureau of Trade and International Cooperation at the Office of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia end of October 2010, I conducted a special consultation forum for ASEAN FTAs discussion which had been attended by number of participants from private sector organizations, academicians as well as representatives of related government institutions.
Some materials of discussions are attached here in Indonesian language; and since translation are now available in the internet in quite a number of languages, I welcome those who are interested in this topic to use the available translation tool.
As one of the fastest growing countries in Asia, I am sure any information about Indonesia would be the benefit of researchers, academicians and government institutions across the continents. Happy readings...
